A good business grows because the people working with that business are regularly out in the world promoting it to others. In the modern world, this means being active both online and offline to generate awareness about what the business does. The best way to do this is to make use of promotional items in your everyday activities, whether those activities take place on the Internet or in the real world.

Important promotional items for the online world:

  • Email signature. Include your web address and special promotions here.
  • Vacation responder. Use this email function to direct people to your website while you’re away.
  • Blog. A blog drives people to your website.
  • Link building. Get traffic to your website using links from others.
  • Website. A must-have.

Important promotional items for the offline world:

  • Business cards. Every business needs them.
  • Promotional pens and other logo-embossed promotional products that you can give away.
  • Brochures and fliers. Use a street team to get the word out.
  • Events. Hold events or classes on a semi-regular basis to let the local community know you’re in business.
  • Storefront. Unless you have an online-only business, you should have a storefront that generates interest in your work.
