With Nadal Injured, French Open Results are Anyone’s Guess

Rafael Nadal was just handed a rare loss on clay today by fellow Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero. This has also put a halt to Nadal’s plans to gain his fourth straight French Open title later this month. In 105 matches, this in only the second time he has lost on clay. Rival Roger Federer beat him in May of 2007.
Rafael had a blister on his foot that was apparently causing him a great deal of pain and discomfort. Two Masters Series without playing best conditions on clay is going to kill me,” Nadal said. “The calendar is impossible.” Nadal spoke to the president of the ATP but to no avail. The French Open schedule is not changing.
The 2008 French Open results might end up surprising fans now that the incumbent champ is a bit injured and a lot discombobulated.
