Verizon Ringtones vs. Verizon Ringback Tones
By lBa on Jan 9, 2008 in Technology
If you’ve just started playing around with your Blackberry phone, you might be interested in exploring options for ringtones. If you’re new to the world of using different rings on your phone, you might be discovering that there are more choices than you originally assumed that there would be. In fact, you might find that you’re confused about all of the options that you have for Verizon ringtones.
You can download ringtones of all different types for your Verizon phone. You can get your favorite songs. You can get sounds of people talking. You can get noises from nature. And you can assign these different ringtones to different callers so that each time the phone rings, you’ll know who it is that is placing the call to you. But perhaps you already knew all this.
Maybe what is confusing you is that Verizon also offers ringback tones. You might be having trouble deciphering what is going on when you download these tones and then don’t hear them when your phone rings. That’s because you’re not the one that is supposed to hear ringback tones. Instead, these are tones (or music, or speech) that are heard by the caller. Instead of a ring, they hear the music that you’ve selected specifically for them.
Because Verizon ringtones and Verizon ringback tones are heard by different people (you and your caller), they can be either the same or different. Perhaps you want mom to hear a song she loves while secretly you’re hearing speech on your phone that says "ugh, it’s Mom again". Just make sure that you assign the ringback tone to her and the ringtone to you or you’re going to be in trouble! And now that you’ve figured that out, you just need to decide if you’re getting Blackberry ringtones or Verizon ones for the phone! Have fun!
