Cross-Country Train Trip

Last winter, my wife and I traveled north to Canada for our five-year anniversary, and I’d like to share some of my experience for those who might be interested. We decided that it would be romantic to take a train ride around the country to view the winter beauty. We elected to try a VIA rail train tour that started in Calgary and ended in Toronto – a real cross-country trip. The train was quite comfortable and, surprisingly, afforded us enough space. I was concerned about the amount of space before I boarded, but my wife and I felt great the entire trip in our double bedroom compartment. The train helped to create a relaxed atmosphere as we rolled through the Canadian landscape. The train trip in Canada certainly gave us quality time alone together, but an unexpected boon was the friends we made along the way. The people who enjoy cross-country train rides often lead various, vibrant lives and we never lacked for people to dine or play cards with us. Upon reaching Toronto, we decided to stay a few extra days to take the city in. They have a strong culture based around theatre and the performing arts and we were all too happy to take in a few performances before heading home. Waving goodbye was sad, but the trip left us with indelible memories of our five-year anniversary. Fortunately, my wife and I are planning to spend a holiday in Lake Louise Canada, so it won’t be long until I return.
